TeraCopy 4 *extremely* slow to start transfer
I have been a long time TeraCopy 3 free user. Rarely if ever had issues. I jumped on the 4 Pro deal, have it installed. When I try to copy or move any files, it often takes 5-10 seconds for the file handler to display and start transferring. It is super laggy and is killing my productivity. I tried adding an exclusive in Defender. I am at a loss at what else to do.

Just upgraded to 4 Build 27 it’s so slow to load. I haven’t timed it but just making a single copy of a small 1k file takes like 5 seconds or more to load.

Exactly the same here, once the copy/move starts it seems faster, but the start of the transfer takes 3-5 seconds and quite often I thought my copy/paste action did not work as there was nothing happening, only to notice that it started almost 20 seconds later.
Need to fix that asap, really annoying. I’m using TeraCopy for over 10 years ( 2 or so years premium) and found it to be extremely reliable, but now we desperately need a fix.

I’ve uninstalled TeraCopy entirely after the switch to 4. Even moving a few files cut+paste takes 5-10s. The program is now worse than Windows Explorer default. Hopefully they will fix this issue asap

Yes, I am having the same issue. Sometimes it takes up to 30 seconds to start, if it’s over a few TBs copying.

I’m on build 28 of version 4, and it is still very slow to start doing anything. A simple copy and paste, or cut and paste of a single text file takes several seconds to “start” after the teracopy window pops up.

Same here, sometimes it take so long that I assume I didn’t click properly, which causes collisions when I repeat my action.

I’m also having this problem after the release of TC 4. it takes nearly a full minute for a transfer to begin. the issue remained after an uninstall and reinstall too.

Same problem here, terribly slow! Also the pop-up if a directory with the same file already exists is very annoying. Why to click first “Ignore” when a directory with the same file needs to be overwritten?

Same for me on 4.28
It takes 5-10 seconds before the window shows and transfers start. I’ve already unchecked the setting to check free space, but that didn’t fix it. No other settings seem to a

To narrow down the issue, can you clarify where exactly the delay happens? Is it when starting TeraCopy itself, including from the Start menu, or when starting a copy, move, or test operation after TeraCopy is already open?

When TeraCopy is running in the background as default copyhandler and a copy/move action is started.

Same as what Carsten said, for me. TeraCopy is always running in the background, and is my default handler. It’s when I start a copy or move action. Sometimes it’s quick, but often there is a few second delay, and sometimes it takes up to 20 seconds to even begin the copy or move. Once it starts, it goes quickly, as normal. I will try to capture a screenshot video, if that helps?
