Rename Copied files if Size or Date is different
Unless I am missing something, it would be awesome if Teracopy had a Rename Copied files if Size or Date is different button. I merge directories with many entries on a weekly basis and the ability to keep both files if the size and date (or both) are different would be terrific since two files can have the same name (example.jpg) but have different content. I don't want the Rename all copied files button because that causes files with duplicate content and wastes space.

Would there be any updates on this issue? Regards, Pinoz

Yes absolutely, I’ve just posted a commment regarding skip all, which I use frequently. It would be better to have an option to just skip files that are the same name and size, and process files that are different by copying/moving and renaming.

hi, just getting in line. I find Teracopy a truly great tool and for me it would be further enhanced with a ‘collision rules’ section. I never found a piece of software that has this and, indeed, I regularly need it. If this were available I’d create a rule like this (for instance):
“overwrite files of the same name (IF they have the same size AND name) otherwise rename following pattern…”
or
“overwrite files of the same name (IF they have the same hash AND name) otherwise rename following pattern…”
Thanks for reading this message! Pinoz

I installed TeraCopy roughly a hour ago, specifically looking for a feature like this since I got fed up with Windows 10's collisions handling popup. I don't have much to add to the conversation at the moment and I honestly only briefly skimmed over the post, but conditional options for collisions would be amazing to have!
I haven't checked if this has already been suggested in the comments, but I do want to say that I would really appreciate it to have an option to always keep both files if the name matches a specific pattern (with regex, preferably, but even just asterisks for wildcards would be better than nothing). Of course, other people might also want the opposite (if the pattern matches, then always overwrite the old file with the new one), so I'd rather for it not to be limited to just what I need it for.
Ideally, users should be able to create as many of these automation rules as they want, and the rules that are highest in the list should have priority above all other rules: automatically keep all files that have "backup" or "BKP" in their name; overwrite all files that start with "latest"; etc.
Thank you so much for your time, I really hope my suggestions will be taken into consideration.

In other words, this is a request for Conditional Options for Collisions .
I might want, in a single operation, to:
Skip all if name and size/hash match;
Keep both if name matches, but size/hash doesn't;
Overwrite all if only date is different
Collision cases are very obviously different, so TeraCopy should allow dealing with them independently.
Right now, my workflow is to always keep both and then use a deduplicator to find issues.

This sounds similar to something I suggested not too long ago, though I'm not sure this is visible...
I want to be able to change the default process, or to automate some handling of things. To set up rules I can swap between. I don't want to get prompted for what to do, I want to set up predetermined rules / order of events.
For example...
If I copy/move files from one place to another, and there are already files with the same name(s) in the destination, I don't want to be asked if I want to skip or rename. I want it to first, automatically skip those files for last. Then I want it to verify the source/destination files that had the same name. If the files match verification, I want the source files deleted. If the files fail verification, I want the files to be copied/moved and renamed (and if files were moved, for any empty folders from the source location(s) to then be deleted).
That's what I wind up doing every time, and I'm just so tired of having to manually go through that process.
But, I know that's not how everyone else would like things to function, so I'm just wishing I could create some sort of rules/profile/template/etc that would let me set that as the selected process to use.
Hope that makes sense.

In my case, it would be nice to have the option to keep two files
if they are different in size (or more accurately, MD5),
because sometimes I get duplicates of the same file and merge them,
but with different dates.
